Terms of Use
The rules for using Fennec Hint: what we offer, what we expect from you, and what the app's advice is not.
Effective from 8 October 2026.
Who provides Fennec Hint
Fennec Hint is provided by a natural person, not by a company. The other party to these terms is Honore Moustapha Pekaou.

What Fennec Hint is
Fennec Hint is a personal assistant for sport. You save your clothing and your gear; the app matches them against the sport you picked and the weather forecast, and suggests what to wear and what to bring.
It also includes the Club, an anonymous notice board for finding someone to train with, and Where to practice, which suggests places to practise some sports in the city you type.
By using the app you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use it.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
You must be 18 or over
The service is for adults. At sign-up we ask you to declare it, and the server refuses the registration if the declaration is missing.
We do not verify age with documents: we rely on your declaration. Declaring falsely breaks these terms and leads to the account being closed.
Your account
One account, one person. You are responsible for what happens through yours, and for the credentials that open it: do not share them.
You can sign in with email and password, with Google or, on iPhone, with Apple. A Google or Apple account is linked to an existing Fennec Hint account only if you do it, from your Profile, after signing in: we never link it based on the email address. If you sign in only with Google or Apple, your account has no password: you can set one with “Forgot password”, using your account's email address. You cannot disconnect your last way of signing in.
The email address you give must be yours and working. It is the only way we have to let you recover your account, and for new registrations from the app it must be confirmed before you can get in. An account that is never confirmed is deleted automatically 7 days after sign-up, and you can sign up again.
If you suspect someone else is using your account, change your password and write to us.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- use the service for unlawful purposes, or to infringe anyone else's rights;
- attempt to reach data that is not yours, or to work around the checks in the app and on the server;
- automate your use of the service, overload it, or query it in bulk;
- upload content or images you do not hold the rights to;
- impersonate another person.
Club and published content
In the Club you are the publisher: sport, place, day, number of people and a note. What you write is your responsibility.
The board is anonymous, and usernames are revealed along the path of the request and its acceptance. Do not publish precise addresses, private contact details or other people's data — not in a post, not in a request, not in the private conversation: neither yours nor theirs.
Offensive, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, deceptive or unsolicited commercial content is not allowed.
The content you publish stays yours. You authorise us only to display it inside the service, because that is what it takes to show it to the people it is meant for.
The Club rules form part of these terms and set out in detail what is allowed.
Reporting, blocking and moderation
Any post can be reported and any person blocked, straight from the app.
Reports are reviewed periodically. We do not guarantee specific review or action times. When we do act, we remove the content, suspend the account, or both.
We do not promise pre-publication review of every post, nor an individual reply to every report. There are no moderators awake around the clock, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.
In case of immediate danger, do not rely on Fennec Hint moderation: contact the emergency services or the appropriate authorities.
A suspension blocks use of the Club. It does not block access to the account: you can still manage your data and delete your account.
Recommendations are informational
This is the most important section on this page.
Fennec Hint's suggestions are generated automatically from your wardrobe, the sport you picked and the weather forecast. They are help with getting ready — not technical, medical or safety advice.
Manufacturer instructions and official safety guidance always take priority over anything the app says. This matters most for protective equipment — helmets, harnesses, ropes, safety devices in the mountains or on the water: if the manufacturer says one thing and Fennec Hint says another, the manufacturer is right.
The decision to go out, to take on a route or to use a piece of equipment stays yours, and so does the responsibility for judging your own condition and the environment.
The weather is a forecast
Forecasts come from MET Norway and apply to the city you entered. A forecast can change, can be wrong, and the mountain ten kilometres away can have weather the city centre does not.
Do not use Fennec Hint as your only source for decisions where the weather bears on your safety.
Cities and places can be imprecise too. The city you type is recognised by an outside service, which may confuse it with another of the same name: check that the recommendation is about the right place. Where to practice places come from third-party open data and may be incomplete, out of date or no longer active; they give no opening hours, prices or availability. Before you go, check the place's website or contact it.
A saved plan keeps the forecast and the recommendation from when you generated it. Opening it days later shows you that weather, not today's: check current conditions before you set out.
Wear estimates are estimates
When you give a purchase date and an expected lifespan for a piece of gear, the app works out how much of that life has passed and warns you as it nears the end.
For running and trail shoes, on paid plans, we also take into account the distance of the training sessions you linked yourself to that pair: it can bring the warning forward, never push it back. For all other gear the estimate stays based on time alone.
Either way it is an indication, not an inspection: it rests on what you entered — dates, lifespans, kilometres — and does not measure the real condition of the item. It does not replace visual checks, maintenance, or the lifespan limits stated by the manufacturer, which again take priority.
An impact, a fall or poor storage may have worn a piece of gear out without Fennec knowing anything about it. This holds in particular for helmets and protective gear, which are never judged on kilometres: no estimate in the app says that safety equipment is safe to use.
The notices the app shows when an item nears the end of its estimated useful life are reminders: they are not a manufacturer's certification or a professional inspection, and what to do stays your choice.
Intellectual property
The Fennec Hint name, the logo, the software, the design and the service's texts belong to whoever runs Fennec Hint. You may not copy, modify or reuse them without permission.
Your content stays yours: your wardrobe, your photos and what you write in the Club.
Weather data comes from MET Norway. Location search is provided by Geoapify, on third-party geographic data that Geoapify states for each result — for example OpenStreetMap. Where to practice places come from the Overture Maps Foundation's open data, which brings together several sources; the app shows their attributions and licences. Each remains subject to its own licence.
Rewarded ads
On the free plan the app may offer you a rewarded ad to earn extra AI credits. It is optional: the free plan works without it.
- for each ad watched to the end and verified you get 1 extra AI credit;
- at most 3 reward credits in any 24 hours, and at most 9 in a month;
- reward credits apply to the AI recommendations, not to photo recognitions or other features;
- rewarded ads are not offered with Premium;
- an ad is not always available: it depends on the advertising provider, your consent choices and the limits above;
- the credit arrives only after Google has confirmed the view and our server has verified it: an invalid, repeated or tampered confirmation gives no credit, and abuse may lead to rewards being suspended for that account.
Ads are provided by Google: the privacy policy explains what data is processed and how you can choose.
Availability and changes to the service
We do what we can to keep the service working, but we cannot guarantee it will always be available and free of interruptions. We depend on external providers too.
Features can change: we may add them, alter them and — when necessary — remove them. If a change substantially affects what you have, we will tell you.
Plan limits, reward limits and prices can change too. A change does not apply retroactively to a period already paid for.
The service also depends on artificial intelligence, weather, location search and advertising provided by third parties: they may be unavailable, or give imperfect results.
Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, in particular the rules on content and acceptable use.
You can close your account at any time from the app, without writing to us and without giving a reason.
